Polo in the Park

The Hurlington Club, London

June 2012

The inaugural Polo In The Park thrilled over 25,000 spectators and introduced television audiences to a new format in high-octane polo competition. The 2012 tournament promises to deliver all the excitement, action and drama with a unique theatre for incredible facilities and hospitality packages in the centre of London.

Eight teams each representing global cities will play over the 3 days of the tournament which will culminate with the Final and the presentation of The World Polo Series™ Trophy.

In a similar way to how Twenty20 is changing Cricket - the World Polo Series™ rules have updated Polo to make the sport faster and more exciting for TV and event spectators. These include a smaller pitch to enable spectators to be closer to the game; no changing of ends after each goal; the introduction of a sin-bin for any player who repeatedly fouls; a D-ring will surround the goals encouraging players to take long-shots at goal; wooden balls to give players more length to their shots; helmet microphones enabling spectators to listen to onpitch conversations and full match video coverage on large outdoor screens - edited and commentated live. The changes mean a quicker more open game - it’s faster, harder and grittier.

Enjoy the glamour and the new format of high-octane polo in a stunning setting whilst receiving exclusive hospitality from summer picnics to gourmet lunches, Veuve Clicquot Champagne receptions and Harrods Traditional Afternoon Teas.
